PCI Conversion Utility, 64-bit Update

Problem:

When running the PCI Conversion Utility to convert .XYZ, .PTS, or .LAS point cloud files to the Leica .PCI format, the conversion process may fail with one of the following symptoms:

• A "System.OutOfMemoryException" error message may occur;
• During the "Converting Source File" phase the progress bar may continue scrolling forever. (You can tell if it is actually still converting or not, by checking the ConvertToPCI.exe process in your Task Manager - if the CPU and Memory statistics are frequently changing then all is well, otherwise the conversion should be cancelled.)

Solution:

You can update to a 64-bit version of the conversion utility as follows:

1. Exit from the PCI Conversion Utility if it is running.
2. Exit from MicroSurvey CAD 2015 if it is running.
3. Download mscad2015-converttopci-update.zip and unzip its contents into:
   • C:\Program Files\MicroSurvey\MSCAD2015\
   • or C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroSurvey\MSCAD2015\
   replacing the files that were already there.
4. Launch the PCI Conversion Utility, and convert your file(s).

Note: This update can be applied on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems, but it will only benefit 64-bit systems.  (On a 32-bit system, memory requirements may still exceed available resources.)
