For this article, we are going to go over the older file formats of MicroSurveyCAD and how they are converted to be used with current versions.
We will begin in 1997, when we used the .flx file format for the CAD drawing, and the .pst file format for the database, explain the change to the .msd file format for the database, then work our way to the current versions, which are the .dwg file format for the CAD drawing, and the .msz file format for the database.
For the CAD drawing file format:
- 1997 to 2004 used the .flx file format. Afterward’s, in 2005, we switched to the .dwg file format, which we have continued to the current version.
In order to convert a .flx file to a .dwg file, you may have to use other software to do so if you no longer have older version of MicroSurveyCAD, which can be explained in this article: Converting .flx files to .dwg Format
For the Database file format:
- 1997 to 2001 used the .pst file format.
Unfortunately, we are unable to convert these .pst files anymore.
- 2002 to 2005 used the .msd file format. Afterword’s, in 2008, we switched to the .msz file format, which we have continued to the current version.
In order to convert a .msd file to a .msz file, open your drawing in any version of MicroSurveyCAD since 2008 and it should convert your .msd file to a .msz file. This does require that you have the corresponding .dwg file with it.
