FieldGenius / Evidence Recorder
GPS Satellite Reference
FieldGenius supports data from all GNSS constellations, but support can very depending on the receiver manufacturer, model, licensing and firmware you are working with. When working as a Network rover access to all constellations be also be restricted depending on the location, manufacturer, configuration, message type and firmware of the caster service you are connecting to.
Receivers that are capable of using more satellites in a solution can function more effectively under adverse conditions such as under tree canopy or near buildings.
Selecting the satellite plot window from the mapview page allows you to view satellites that are in use. SVs (Space vehicles) highlighted as green are reported by the receiver as in use when determining the solution. Other satellites visible but not used may be plotted but not shown as green.
This article maintained by the Japanese Space Agency is a useful listing of identifiers and active status of all constellations.
When determining whether FieldGenius is making full use of available constellations in your position, please first consult with the manufacturer as they can determine which constellations are enabled by your receiver model, firmware and licensing. If you are using the receiver as a network rover it may also be necessary to consult the caster service provider to determine which satellites are supported when combining your receiver with the receivers that are part of the service you are connecting to.
Note: NMEA systems may identify satellites by a NMEA Satellite ID number, which‚ is the PRN number minus 87
Support for European GALILEO, Chinese Beidou, Indian IRNSS and Japanese QZSS satellites are being added to FieldGenius as receivers are updated to support these newer constellations, in consultation with the manufacturer.
