Problem
One of the new features in MicroSurvey CAD 2009 and MapScenes 2010 is a spell checker (Cad Tools menu | Spelling), but some users receive the following error when running the Spell command:
---------------------------
IntelliCAD
---------------------------
Unable to find main dictionary.
Could not start spell checker.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
When you press OK on this message, the "Change Dictionaries" dialog opens up with no available choices for the Main Dictionary.
Solution
Close any dialogs that are open on your screen, such as error messages or the Change Dictionaries screen.
Go to Cad Tools | Options, or type OPTIONS at your command line. Click on the "Paths/Files" tab, and scroll down to find the "Spelling" folder. For most installations it will be as follows, but it may vary on some network configurations - if yours is listed differently, write it down on a scrap of paper.
Windows 2000 or XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Spelling\
Windows Vista or 7: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Spelling\
Press Cancel on the Options dialog.
Download the following file (en_US.zip), and unzip it into your Spelling folder.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooodocs/files/spell%20and%20hyph%20dictionaries/15012002/
Then run the Spell command again, and everything should work properly.
Note that on the Change Dictionaries dialog, there is a "Download" button you can use to access this english dictionary file, as well as dictionary files for many other languages.
