Error opening log file - Message when attempting to View a Report

Problem:

When trying to use the view log editor report you may experience that is does not open using either the  "_MSEDITOR" command, the MsTools/Print_Edit_View Reports/View Log File menu, or the View Log File button on the toolbar.  You can however open it manually by navigating  to your project storage location and selecting the log report (which is named (Project Name).rtf)

 

Resolution:

To solve this issue locate and rename the "MsRTFViewer.exe" file located in your MSCAD 2010 folder. Then make a copy of your "wordpad.exe" file located in your Windows directory and paste it into the same location as your original MsRTFViewer.exe file.  Rename this copy of  "Wordpad.exe" to "MsRTFViewer.exe" (without the quotation marks) and relaunch MSCAD.

 

For Win XP  computers the path to the "MsRTFViewer.exe" is C:\Program Files\MicroSurvey\MSCAD201X.

For Win XP computers the path to the "Wordpad.exe" is C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories.

 

For Vista/Win 7 computers the path to the "MsRTFViewer.exe" is C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroSurvey\MSCAD201X.

For Vista/Win 7 computers the path to the "Wordpad.exe" is C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows NT\Accessories.
