The 1100 series Total Stations from Leica, record data to a PCMCIA card. You do not have to use the download routine in any of the MicroSurvey programs, as the card (with the adapter) can be plugged into the computer and accessed just like any other drive. The process varies depending upon how you record your data but the initial import steps are the same.
We've seen 2 different scenarios so far with these instruments. One for instruments using Leica's own GSI format and another for those that are running TDS software:
- GSI data: Our support for this option was designed for the DataPro (LISCAD) format that uses specific operation codes for setups etc. You may find that setup information is not read correctly if the data was recorded using a different format.
In this case, simply read the GSI file directly from the PCMCIA card, (You may also wish to copy the collector file, using Windows Explorer, to your hard drive and access the file from there rather than working off the card directly) using the following selection from the Assistant:
MicroSurvey (CAD or Express) 2002: Import ASCII file or Data Collector file -> Import DC ASCII file- > Leica GSI 8/16.
MicroSurvey inCAD: Import ASCII file or Data Collector file -> Import DC ASCII file- > Leica GSI 8/16.
MapScenes Pro: Import Scene Data -> Import DC ASCII file -> Leica GSI 8/16.
- TDS data: This method works very well and is more straightforward than method #1 as the TDS format does not vary in structure like Leica's formats (GSI). You will be asked if you are importing Raw (RW5) or Coordinate (CR5) data.
In this case, read the raw data file directly from the PCMCIA card, (You may also wish to copy the collector file, using Windows Explorer, to your hard drive and access the file from there rather than working off the card directly) using the following selection from the Assistant:
MicroSurvey (CAD or Express) 2002: Import ASCII file or Data Collector file -> Import DC ASCII file- > TDS 48/500 RW5.
MicroSurvey inCAD: Import ASCII file or Data Collector file -> Import DC ASCII file- > TDS 48/500 RW5.
MapScenes Pro: Import Scene Data -> Import DC ASCII file -> TDS 48/500 RW5.
For the TDS CR5 data files, you should now see your points come up on screen automatically. You may have to zoom extents (ZOOMFIT) to see all of the points.
For raw data (in either format), you will be asked for either a Traverse file name (MicroSurvey CAD, Express, or inCAD) or Scene Measurements file name (MapScenes Pro) in which to store the raw data. Then you will be asked if you wish to store coordinates found in the raw data file. Choose YES and these points will be automatically added to the coordinate database in your current drawing or scene.
After the data is imported, you can edit and coordinate the raw data, if necessary, from the following menu locations:
MicroSurvey CAD 2002: MicroSurvey menu -> Traverse Coordinating & Balancing submenu.
MicroSurvey Express 2002: Calculating menu -> Traverse Coordinating & Balancing submenu.
MicroSurvey inCAD: MicroSurvey menu -> Traverse Coordinating & Balancing submenu.
MapScenes Pro: MapScenes menu -> Scene Measurements submenu -> Edit or Coordinate Measurements.
