A copy of the EGM2008 geoid model, converted by MicroSurvey to the NGS .bin format compatible with the STAR*Geoid utility, is available for download. This file provides Geoid separation information for the entire planet.

Instructions for STAR*NET 7 (or earlier):
1. Download the file you need from the link above.
2. Save this file in:
Windows Vista/7/8 or newer:
C:\ProgramData\MicroSurvey\StarNet\Vn\Models
Windows XP or older:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MicroSurvey\StarNet\Vn\Models
3. Run the STAR*Geoid utility (installed with STAR*NET)
4. Identify the input folder by browsing to the location you have saved your .bin file.
5. Identify the output folder by browsing to the above Models or a location of your choice and create a name for your .ght file.
6. Select the "World" radio button in the Type section
7. Specify your region by entering the latitudes and longitudes to create a rectangle that covers your territory. PLEASE NOTE that longitudes must be specified as a positive number east of Greenwich, and the longitude will range from zero to 359.5959. You will only need to use this input convention when using STAR*Geoid. Normally STAR*NET will expect positive longitudes to be west of Greenwich and between 0 and 180, and negative longtides to be east of Greenwich and between 0 and 180.
8. Optional: once you have created the .ght geoid file you can delete the .bin file to save space on your system.
9. Select the .ght file in your STAR*NET project's modeling options screen.

1. Download the file you need from the link above.
2. Save this file in:

3. Select the .bin file in your STAR*NET project's modeling options screen.
